“What does that look like” this is my response whenever someone says that their dog is aggressive. Seldom what they describe is aggressiveness. We have a 1-10 scale for aggression and after over 3000+ dogs about 5% of them have aggression over a 1. I have warned before about throwing the A word around in describing your dogs. I gets them labeled. Sadly much of the time what people describe as a aggression is nothing more than failed communication because dogs speak in movement and touch and we speak in verbalization. Much of the touch is teeth on the body of another dog or human, and the natural human reaction actually encourages the dog. Its’s simple but not easy. With other people we are more concerned with our answer than what the other person is saying. It is like someone that is deaf using sign language to communicate with you and you getting made because you don’t know sight language. Its worse with dogs.. Dogs come into a house and what is and is not OK is never explained to them in their language and then we yell at them for not knowing. It’s our fault…not theirs.
