Dogs of the Week

Apollo is a 13 week old Akita/Rottweiler mix. Mom & Dad were concerned with him nipping and mouthing at the kids as they played. They also wanted him to begin basic obedience. Using the principles of FBCT (Focused Based Canines Training) he is well on his way to being a good boy.

Mater is a 3 year old Great Dane that is one of a four dog pack. She barked excessively and lunged at people and other dogs on walks. The family was showed how to use their anatomy to control such a large dog with little effort. They said it was the best walk they ever had.

Beau is an 8 month old Shar Pei / Pitbull mix. Mom said that he would get overly aggressive when playing. They also reported barking, jumping and mouthing on them. We showed them how to stop the problem behaviors as well as getting him under control when he got to rough playing.

Xena is a 2.5 year old Dutch Shepherd. Mom and Dad called because she was anxious and reactive to dog when leashed. During a loose leash walk we showed them how to keep her under control even when we encountered half a dozen dogs. Continued exposure to with Mom & Dad in charge will bring this sweet girl around. They were also shown how to introduce he to other leashed dogs.

Klaus is a 1 year old GSD. Mom called because she was unable to control him from pulling and jumping as well as keeping up with his need for physical and mental exercise. By the end of the appointment he was walking a a loose leash and keeping all four paws on the ground while greeting people. Mom also was give some tools for her toolbox for meeting the needs of the breed.

Luna is a 2.5 year old Black Lab that pulled on the leash wildly when passing people and dogs. Mom said that she had gotten worse since COVID. Our methodical Silent Loose Lead Walk seemed to make the unwanted behavior disappear.

Lucy is a 16 week old Corgi. Mom and Dad were concerned about her pulling on the leash and nipping at their 1 year old son. She was very advanced for her age and had no issues with a 5 minute off leash stay. She is well on her way to being a well mannered pup.
